Polygon Rain are an electronic rock band from Doncaster, formed by childhood friends James and Alex, who grew up immersed in the local music scene with a shared obsession for synths and songwriting. Originally a fast-moving two-piece, the band built momentum by writing, recording, mixing, and releasing tracks independently, driven by the creative yin and yang between James and Alex and their instinctive ability to craft melodic, hook-led songs.
In 2024, Polygon Rain expanded into a full live band with Patch on bass and Lenny on drums, beginning gigging in early 2025 and quickly earning a reputation for energetic live shows. They have released music since 2023, including their debut album Light Waves, recorded and mixed independently, and were finalists in the Imperial Battle of the Bands in 2025.
Their sound blends electronic rock with alternative psychedelia, drawing comparisons from Depeche Mode and Echo & The Bunnymen to The Osees and King Gizzard. Known for experimental touches such as theremin, sitar, and microtonal songwriting, Polygon Rain balance ambition with fun, often closing sets with the crowd-favourite “The Banana Song.”
